Contributors
HIFICRITIC magazine has assembled an international line-up of experienced contributors, specialists in their fields. There are music reviews in classical, pop and jazz.
The dedicated team totally understands the art of high fidelity stereo, superior audio reproduction, and specialises in reporting on classic stereo systems: preamplifiers, power amplifiers, tuners, LP vinyl and CD players, turntables, tone arms, and cartridges, plus phono equalisers. Integrated amplifiers and designs with still more functionality are tested. Loudspeakers figure strongly in the reporting, not forgetting audio cables, line conditioners, equipment supports and the like.
Our well researched equipment reviews are supported by in-depth laboratory testing. The lab tests will be presented in a clear and consistent format. Output power, distortion, load matching and input matching will be a priority, plus significant investigative work to continue to try and improve the correlation between laboratory test results and sound quality.
Most reviews are supported by numeric scores for sound quality, correlated with the unique sound quality archive only available on the HIFICRITIC web site. The archive also provides many historic technical articles and reviews. Our site provides an opportunity for enthusiasts to debate topics with the team and send in news and opinion via the HIFICRITIC FORUM. Our site also has news on audio shows and events, upcoming reviews, issue dates and timings and past issues content.
HIFICRITIC is for enthusiasts and music lovers working mainly with vinyl and CD sources, but we aim to encourage the availability of higher performance music servers hoping to see these take their place as legitimate audio sources of high quality and good system matching. Their convenience and overall appeal in terms of music access is already convincing.
