With Neil Young in London last weekend playing Hyde Park, Omniphone, the music download company based in West London’s Brook Green announced that it would deliver higher resolution recordings to Neil’s Pono music player.

Last year Signals celebrated their 20th anniversary with a summer bash. The Signals hi-fi show seemed to go down very well with visitors and exhibitors alike.
Now Back again Friday 29th and Saturday 30th August. Same weekend and venue as last year, The Trinity Events Centre in the Suffolk Show-ground. Unlimited parking and a lovely peaceful rural setting.
The plan is for the 2014 Audio Show East to be bigger and better. We have more rooms (an adjoining building is being added to the mix), more brands will be there and we hope to make this the not-to-be-missed Hi Fi event in the region.
New tech lamps are continuing to increase the RF, radio wave pollution of the environment. While the deleterious effect on living things is largely unproven, other more sensitive devices react adversely to this electromagnetic smog.
Devialet announced their SAM go faster software loudspeaker specific plug-in for their widening range of integrated amplifiers at the Munich High End show. We outlined the project in that show report. These downloadable ‘upgrades’ are loudspeaker specific so the thorny question is, who gets it first?
The audience initially did not know what to make of the small Venetian Italian string band invited to perform in London by sound engineer and producer Mike Valentine. Playing at St Johns Smith Square on Saturday the 14th July 2014 , they had to compete for attention with England’s first world cup match held later that night.

On the 28th and 29th May, running until late in the evenings, KJ hosted a London showroom launch of the Naim Statement amplifier driving the Focal Grande Utopia Be for invited guests, KJ customers and the Press. On a secondary display the new MUSO all-in-one was also demonstrated by Ryan Latham, Naim’s marketing director.
After the 33rd HIGH END exhibition in a row, one thing is clear: Munich is unsurpassed as the world’s most important location for high-quality consumer electronics with this leading exhibition.

Larry Gullman co founder of MSB, California, dropped by before heading off to the Munich Show for next week. In a quirk of fate the booked MSB room had vanished from the organisers list leaving them no option but to run a static stand on the show floor. I was really hoping to hear the new select DAC at Munich and to my great good fortune he brought the show exhibit with him for me to try out with the current HIFICRITIC review system of D’Agostino Momentum paired with the Wilson Sasha Two.
