Renowned Naim hi fi dealer Grahams was the venue for the physical launch of the new smaller MUSO. Naim’s one box music player MUSO was a new venture last year and has done well, penetrating the web and high street quality music box market exemplified by the range stocked by John Lewis. The Muso itself was viewed initially with some suspicion by Naim customers and dealers as it is not a traditional Hi Fi component but it has penetrated that market too. Naim’s MD Trevor Wilson explained that there has been a gain in NAIM audio component sales from new customers who have got on so well with their Muso that they also want to experience NAIM component audio.

Here was a substantially weighty piece of kit despite the compact dimensions, roughly a nine-inch cube. Uber came to rescue in two minutes despite the encompassing North London rush hour, though it was an inevitably slow plod back to base.

Muso Qb, under the grille While neatly packaged as a single unit, all of its content is recognisably Hi Fi quality, and is clearly not a made-to-a-price dock. While warranted for 2 years it is built for a typical service life of 9 years, well beyond most of the competition. Build quality and finish is first class, even to the massive heat radiator at the back whose job to keep the unit cool and thus maximise reliability. With multiple amplifiers for each section the rms power installed totals a generous 300W (no wonder it is mains powered) and it sure could play respectably loud. UK price is £595 with an attractive colour range, while the colours may be changed later as required. We aim to review the Qb (ie muso cube) in the upcoming issue.
