Less convenient but in my view better, Armageddon does most of what the lingo 1 offers but with low mains noise contribution.
How much this is an issue will depend on the system and the local mains quality.
Martin C Hello Martin, I'm pretty certain the Lingo uses a toroid transformer and not a switch mode power supply. I think the issue that some have with the Lingo is it's use of a mains filter which some Naim owners say adversely affects the performance of their electronics, it's certainly what Julian banged on about for years. It's interesting because of the huge number of electronic devices that can be found in the home that contain mains filters. I guess we need to unplug them all in order to enjoy our tunes. John

I have my Hi-Fi connected to a dedicated CU and when I switch off the CU that powers the rest of the house I definitely hear in an improvement in my Hi-Fi.

John I got Julian wrong on the SM psu , it was the filters , I looked inside mine recently and noted the small mains transformer. thanks for the correction MartinC

The upgrade program for my pre Cirkus LP 12 has gotten underway. This is by no means to be an assault on the state of the art but an attempt to get maximum sound for money. I have ordered a Sole sub-chassis, a MOSE/Hercules power supply and a Jelco 750D arm. I had already gotten a new belt and mat. A friend who has 30 years experience, including Linn setups is going to do the modification. Theoretically I could set up the Linn as I use to do the Ariston but that was 30 years ago. I intended to use the arm cable that came with my Graham arm as it is well made [WBT etc.] but a new cable I just purchased is sounding so good I may sell it and buy another of these. I will add a link. I got mine with Silver Bullet plugs and Clearaudio DIN. Around $250. Not broken in but very impressed with sound and workmanship. My friend sees no reason to replace the springs if they still function, I am not so sure. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370342936753&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2378wt_962

It was recommended to me that I change out the suspension parts when going to a different sub-chassis. I purchased them from an online retailer in Texas, Spinning Dog Records. The kit included: 3 suspension springs, 3 large grommets, 3 small grommets, 3 washers, and 3 M5 lock nuts. I also changed out the bearing oil as well which was also recommended by a couple very knowledgeable sources. Might be worth doing while everything is apart, cost me about $45.
The deck is bouncy very nice with the new springs. I was told they get tired after awhile and should get replaced once in awhile, mine were over 15 years old.

Has it made your listening more enjoyable or less so? John R

I have had a rather distracting summer, my wife has been in the hospital 3 times in the last 2 months[better now] and the project has yet to be realized. I will post the results when and if it is finished. Its progress is complicated by the fact that most of the actual modification work is being done by a friend who is a semi retired audio technician who nevertheless has a busy schedule and we have had little opportunity to get together on it.

Very sorry to hear about your wife's health issues but really glad she's better now! Put's life into perspective when a loved one is ill. I just wondered how things were going that's all and hoping you find it a worthwhile mod.

Nice note, and welcome to the forums John Thank you very much darkmatter for your very nice welcome. It's nice to be here, I only wish I'd known about this forum a long time ago. Maybe Mr Colloms and Mr Messenger would like to know more about our low cost LP12 sub-chassis? John R
